Workin' For The Weekend
Things have been busy at the ol' office. There have been plenty of 14-16 hour days in the past few weeks, but that time investment is usually rewarded handsomely.
This week will be a catch-up week, trying to tie up all the loose ends I ignored when higher priority projects pushed them to the side. Catch-up weeks are among my least favorite, as they involve a lot of busy work and aren't always as productive (and certainly not as lucrative) as project weeks.
To get me through this week, I am eagerly anticipating Friday afternoon, when two friends and I will throw our mountain bikes in the back of my truck and head to Bend, Oregon for three days of heavenly mountain biking. Some friends of ours live in Bend and have been asking us to come visit (and ride) for four years now. Finally, we found a weekend that worked for everyone.
Mountain biking is my passion when I'm not at this desk. I usually ride 3-4 times a week, often with my 14-year-old son, who has become an incredibly strong biker in his own right. He and my aforementioned friends ride every Monday night (weather and light permitting), and we'll be heading out shortly tonight as well.
Bend, OR is a mountain biker's paradise. My buddy who lives there is an avid biker and knows all the best trails. The cherry on the sundae is that the weather is supposed to be perfect for autumn mountain-biking this weekend.
So...I will trudge through this week of playing catch-up, knocking out all the things a little lower on my "to do" list, with a constant eye toward Friday. If you find yourself in a similar situation, figure out a plan for the weekend (if you don't already have one) that will result in doing something memorable and do it.
Hindsight will show it was all worth it.
Make it a great week,
